T H I R D N A T I O N A L C O N F E R E N C E
WITH INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION
ON THE TOPIC OF
THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF
MUSIC THERAPY
“PLAYER IN THE SOUL”
SOFIA, NOVEMBER 9-11, 2012
The conference is oriented towards the sharing of theoretical and practical experience in the application and effectiveness of music therapy in contemporary therapeutic practice, applied by specialists in the field of supportive professions.
This conference is aiming to join together the following conceptual ideas:
Research of the role of music and other arts in the life of the contemporary person. Albeit pretenses for improving and diversifying lifestyles, our present day seems to fail in responding in a satisfying way to the psychological needs of a person, which results in impairing the entity of the body-reason-emotions interrelation.
The effect of arts. Arts have a different and universal impact on our psyche and emotions – from the reception of arts, through creative processes (musical improvisations, dance, painting and modelling), to deep psychological processes.
Perception of art stimulates one’s creative attitudes, creating a safe capacity for analysis, getting awareness and development. In this process imagery associations, which carry individual symbolic meaning are being released.
Associative work under the impact of arts takes the self to the profound levels of the psyche, which empowers the awareness of archetypal models of behavior and thinking. Thus a possibility to touch and explore new realities from our own inner world emerges.
Through the universal language of music, which everyone is able to hear and understand, a new and different world discloses before the contemporary person. Being full of emotions and imagination it can help him/her to gain back the lost balance and harmony of their soul, and doing so without running away from reality, but being in contact with it, to start transforming this reality, according to their own necessities instead.
Conference is open to specialists with a therapeutic background and practice in the field of music therapy and supportive professions.
